Product Description
The KTY81, KTY82, KTY83, and KTY84 are a series of silicon-based positive temperature coefficient (PTC) temperature sensors. These are not traditional ceramic PTC thermistors, but rather semiconductor sensors that utilize the resistance-temperature characteristics of single-crystal silicon. Known for their exceptional accuracy, excellent linearity, high long-term stability, and reliability, these sensors are ideal for precise temperature measurement, compensation, and control over a wide temperature range of -55°C to +150°C (some models can reach +300°C). The different models in the series (e.g., 81, 82, 83, 84) differ primarily in their rated resistance, temperature coefficient, size, package, and maximum operating temperature, providing users with flexible options to meet the needs of diverse application scenarios.

Features
Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC): Its resistance increases monotonically with increasing temperature, resulting in a smooth curve for easy measurement.
Excellent Linearity: The resistance-temperature (R-T) characteristic curve is very close to a straight line across the entire operating temperature range, significantly simplifying measurement circuitry and signal processing, reducing system design complexity.
High Accuracy and Stability: Manufactured using a silicon semiconductor process, it offers excellent long-term stability and repeatability, with minimal hysteresis, ensuring accurate and reliable measurement results.
Fast Response Time: Small packages (such as the DO-35 glass package) enable rapid response to changes in ambient temperature.
Wide Operating Temperature Range: Covers -55°C to over +150°C, with extended versions of some models (such as the KTY83 and KTY84) capable of operation up to +300°C.
High Reliability and Robustness: Rugged glass or SMD packaging resists mechanical stress, vibration, and humidity, ensuring a long service life.
No need for linearization circuit: Due to its good linear characteristics, in many applications, no complex linearization compensation circuit is required. A simple constant current source plus voltage measurement can obtain temperature information, reducing costs.
